The 2017 BNP Paribas Open Tri-Level Championships is a doubles competition in which each of the 17 USTA Sections will be provided the opportunity to send a Team representing its Section to compete over the final weekend of the 2017 BNP Paribas Open.  Each Section’s Team will be comprised of a minimum of 12 players (6 men and 6 women) providing for one doubles team per gender in the 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 ability levels to a maximum of 24 players (12 men and 12 women).  It will be to the discretion of each individual USTA Section as to how their Team will be selected.  Sections must give notice of their intention to participate by Saturday, December 31, 2016.

 

EVENT FORMAT AND SCHEDULE OF PLAY:  Men and women will be competing for their own titles.  Teams will be divided into flights and each team shall play every other team in its flight.  The number of matches a team will play is dependent on the number of teams per flight.  The flight winners will enter a single elimination playoff to establish the 2017 BNP Paribas Open Tri-Level Champions.  All matches will be the best of two tiebreak sets with a match tiebreak in lieu of a third set.  The Coman tiebreak will be used in both the set tiebreak and match tiebreak.  Final format and schedule may be subject to change based on final number of entries or weather.

Friday March 17 8:00 am - 6:00 pm First and second round matches
Saturday March 18 8:00 am - 6:00 pm Third and fourth round matches
    7:00 pm Dinner
Sunday March 19 7:00 am - 11:00 am Semifinal and final matches


PARKING AND TICKETS:  Each player will receive one parking pass and one complimentary Loge ticket to the 2017 BNP Paribas Open for Thursday, March 16 night session, Friday, March 17, day and night sessions, Saturday, March 18, day session and Sunday, March 19, day session.  Additional tickets for player guest(s) are available for purchase.  All spectators must have a ticket to enter the grounds to watch the play whether it be Tri-Level or professional.

DINNER:  Each player will be invited to attend a complimentary dinner to be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017.  Additional dinner tickets are available for purchase for player guest(s). 

AWARDS AND PRIZES:  Individual awards will be presented to the winners of each flight.  Each player on the winning team of the 2017 BNP Paribas Open Tri-Level Championships will receive a FILA product package and an additional award. 

TRANSPORTATION AND HOTEL:  Players will be responsible for their own travel arrangements and costs.  Special rates at BNP Paribas Open Hotels will be offered on a space available basis.

ENTRY FEE AND REQUIREMENTS:  Each player will pay a $200 entry fee.  All players must be current USTA members and have current computer generated NTRP ratings.  Self-rated players will not be eligible to compete.
